After emerging from a heavy and emotionally draining couple of days, I took myself on a journey via cabs around Melbourne. I usually take trams, listen to music and ponder, but yesterday I was not in the mood. From Fitzroy to South Melbourne, then to Port Melbourne, into the City and back to Fitzroy. Then to East Melbourne and back I sought the comfort and conversations of the cab.

It's funny when you seek or are open to, you often find the right cabbie at the right time. For instance the very silent ride that I had from South Melbourne to Port Melbourne gave great release from the previous and the longest ride that saw me in engage in the deep and complicated issues of Religious belief, or lack of.

Lefty atheist talking to Afghani muslin, quite interesting, especially when it's carried out in a good nature, and the occasional laugh at each others ideologies. The most pleasing aspect was the shaking of hands and the agreement that it is through this telling of stories and ideas to one another that we can all learn to understand and maybe produce some understanding.

It was going to East Melbourne that I found myself with a pseudo-tech geek that was thrilled to have a DVD hard disk recorder in his car, after him gleefully telling me about his exploits on downloading movies from the net, I made the statement: You enjoy driving cabs don't you? This a question that you don't often get to ask. His answer was so simplistic yet, and in my time of despair had a nice resonance: I feel that you have to enjoy some part of a job to do it mate. Made we think about the past few days, yeah, stuffs not so bad really.

The last ride back from a mixing session at me mates Bee's place - which was pretty insane considering the state that we found ourselves in - was from memory quite funny, though what was funny I shall never know. How I got up the stairs to the unit, will for ever be a mystery.

All in all a strange day full of peaks, troughs and long peaceful plateau's. Thanks to all that drove me around, cheers.
