Question 2.3

Of the work illustrated in this chapter, which has the most 'added value', in terms of bringing something new to the appropriation? [or possibly that should be; getting something new out of the appropriation]

Hmmm, I can see what you mean about the '3rd idea' idea not being the only valid outcome of appropriation. I guess it's what I picked out of the chapter in terms of it's relation to where I saw my topic going ñ down the hybrid road.

But just to push this a little further . . . in terms of cultural appropriation, I'd like to try and argue that the most successful examples would initiate thinking outside of, or in addition to, the thing being appropriated . . .

trying to think of a successful example of cultural appropriation . . . ?

I am sure I was getting completely off track in the previous post and anyway... I really liked your point that even cultural appropriation would be enhanced by wanting to do more than represent the original.

So lets take it from there... but I do wonder if it is even possible to represent the original in another context and not shift the meaning?
